The Minors got beat by Strabane and then drew Greencastle to go the following week and get beat by Carmen
Minors Lose To Strabane
Glenelly suffered their second defeat of the season to Strabane. This match was played on a very wet poor pitch that made playing football difficult. Glenelly played the better football in the first half. The forwards functioned well displaying great support play that resulted in some great scores, particularly by Fergal Lindsay and Kevin Mc Anena. Corner forward Peter Mc Namee caused the Strabane defence a host of problems. However sloppy defending left Strabane only a point behind at half time as they scored two goals on the counter attack. The half time score was, Glenelly 1-6 Strabane 2-2.
Despite enjoying the majority of possession in the second half Glenelly failed to take their chances. This resulted in an overall poor performance. Strabane took their chances and ran out winners by a point despite the best efforts of a Kevin Mc Anena goal. Good for Glenelly in the second half were sub Shaun Mc Bride and Eugene Mc Cullagh.

Minors Battle For Draw Against Greencastle
Glenelly gained another league point at home to Greencastle on Wednesday. The match itself was an excellent display by both teams on a good evening. Glenelly played superb football in the first half. Ronan O’ Kane, Conal Mc Cullagh, Kevin Mc Anena and Simon Cairns all scored while Peter Mc Namee and Tony Mc Grinder picked up valuable possession. Glenelly went in the happier at half time, 0-9 points to 0-7 up.
Despite enjoying the majority of possession in the first half Glenelly struggled to gain a foothold in the second half. Chances for the forwards were limited as the defence was constantly under siege. Cathal Sheerin was dismissed for 2 yellow cards. As a result Glenelly lost their shape and their focus. After a tense final 10 minutes the match ended all square at 11 points apiece.

Minors Unlucky Against Carmen
Glenelly were defeated on Wednesday by Carrickmore on a score line of 1-11 to 0-9. Despite playing way Glenelly got off to a great start and lead thanks to points from Conal Mc Cullagh. The defence produced a magnificent display of blocking to restrict the Carrickmore forwards to only 6 points in the first half as Glenelly scored 4 points.
The second half continued were the first half left off as both teams exchanged scores. However Carrickmore struck a goal that proved to be a huge blow for the Glenelly team. Who never stopped trying but were just short on overall quality due to injuries to Oliver Mc Bride, Stephen Mc Bride and Peter Mc Namee. The club wishes speedy recoveries to all. Best for Glenelly on the night were the ‘returning’ Seamus Harkin and wing halfbacks Eugene Mc Cullagh and Cathal Sheerin. It was a better overall display by the team and sets them up well for the match against Augher in the championship this Wednesday the 4th May.
