Tyrone Intermediate Champions 2005

Glenelly travelled to The Moy three weeks ago to play them in the league. This was going to be a tester for both sides as they were aware they were going to meet  in the final. That day Glenelly came out on top, the same result on Saturday.
 

It was near perfect conditions to play a game of football. Glenelly started of the better team. They registered their first score early on and started to build on their lead. It was obvious any chance Moy would get that they would score. This was the case, Glenelly went into a daze and before they knew it was a draw. Glenelly battled hard around the middle of the pitch with FionaMaire Kearney and Ann Dooher wining the breaking ball.

Glenelly worked the ball into their full forward line and Aisling OKane worked hard to get on the score sheet. Nicola Sherrin was out in front of her marker making her task easier to stick the ball over the ball.

In the second half Glenelly made some changes which turned the game. The substitutes which came on worked and battled hard as they knew what was on offer. Glenelly bedazzled by two goals had some work to do to get back in the game. After one of the Moy girls got injured Manager Ciaran Kearney called a team talk in the middle of the pitch, what ever he said worked for after that all the girls were rearing to go. The thought of losing in a final for the third time in a row was unbearable and I’m sure he reminded them of that horrible feeling. Soon after Aisling OKane struck the net with a perfectly hit goal following on from that was Nicola Sheerin who also hit the net.

Glenelly deserved to won, the work which the girls put in paid of. They now represent Tyrone in Ulster Intermediate Finals. All the best girls
