On Wednesday night the Under 12’s suffered a defeat in the hands of Newtown. It was certainly an exciting game with a lot of skill expressed in both teams. The players are a credit to their managers and their club.
Glenelly have shown over the course of the league that they are a talented group of players. Glenelly showed great skill and commitment in the first half, with Kevin Mc Connell cleaning up around the full back line and Terry Mc Cullagh converting on the other side. Newtown controlled the middle of the park until the middle of the first half when Ryan Falls started to catch and break down the ball. This was too Glenelly’s advantage. Although a few mistakes cost Glenelly dearly, Newtown played well to keep up with Glenelly. In the second half Newtown were fired up and all guns blazing. Glenelly still asleep let in a quick goal to give them the advantage. Glenelly tried hard to narrow the widening margin but another killer blow was served up when Newtown scraped in a goal leaving the game beyond Glenelly’s reach. This was a very talented and exciting game of football with a lot of skill produced, it was just unfortunate that Glenelly had to be the losers on this occasion.
Final score in Plumbridge was Glenelly 0-6 Netwon 2-6 |
