Yesterday seen the Under 16 boys reach the Championship Final after a well earned victory over Eskra. After a rocky start to the league the management team and the players have certainly pulled it together, firstly beating unbeaten league runners Brackville and then disposing of Eskra in the Semi’s.
Glenelly started of well registering the first score but Eskra won’t long fighting back. The game had a high intensity and both teams were working hard. Glenelly solid from the full back line worked the ball up the field to register scores. Glenelly goal keeper, Jamie Allen pulled of some great saves to keep the game at bay. Ryan Finaly and Kevin O'Hagan worked well together to build the ball up to the full forward line were Tim Harney and Kevin Mc Cullagh were sticking the ball over the bar. Eskra’s star men were Peter Hughes and Cormac Arkinson. The pair worked well to get the most of Eskra’s scores.
The second half started with a high tempo with both teams running with the ball, some excellent defending from both teams proved crucial in preventing goals. Glenelly worked hard and reaped the rewards when they started to pull away. Fortunately Glenelly's Noel OKane and Ciaran Mc Connel kept the Eskra forwards under control which proved a crucial. Kevin Mc Cullagh sustained a serious injury and had to leave the pitch. This did not affect Glenelly as they went on to win the game. The final score from Killyclogher was Glenelly 0-12 Eskra 0-5. Glenelly scores: Tim Harney 0-1 Shane Mc Bride 0-1 Collie Hicks 0-3 Kevin Mc Cullagh 0-6
