Shane Sweeney has quit the Tyrone county panel because he cannot give
the necessary commitment required to play at the top level. The defender, who has been a squad regular since 2004, informed manager Mickey Harte of his decision in the last few days.
Sweeney last played for Tyrone in the McKenna Cup win over Ballybofey on 22 January, but has been overlooked since.Tyrone face Offaly in an Allianz NFL Division One game this weekend.
"Shane is too busy to commit to county football at the minute and I have to accept that," Harte told the Daily Mirror. "He will be a loss to our set-up because he played in virtually every position in defence."
