On Sunday evening only one game was played in Plumbridge as Castlederg failed to field a Reserve Team. The Seniors came of best with a 1-12 to 1-07 victory.
The game started of brightly with Castlederg registering the first score but moments after Fergal Linsday hit the back of the net for the home team leaving it 1-0 to 0-1 in favour of the home side. It was a free flowing game but Glenelly looked in control for the first 20 minutes with Seamus Harkin converting a free wile Ciaran Kearney’s long range effort found it’s way over the bar. Castlederg didn’t stop in attack registering two quick scores on the trot before Ronan O’Kane slipped the ball over the bar with his left foot and this soon followed by a converted free by OKane. Castlederg battled their way of the field with some good football played to out another score on the sheet. Just before half time OKane knocked the ball over the bar again to leave the score at half time – Glenelly 1-5, Castlederg 0-4. In the second half Glenelly started of the brighter team with Seamus Harkin knocking the ball over the bar to increase his sides advantage. As the game went on Glenelly started to build up a lead but Castlederg hadn’t stopped fighting making it difficult for Glenelly to get the ball up field. The half wasn’t long started when Castlederg stormed up the field to get their first score of the final half. Harkin converted another free for Glenelly while also placing the ball over the bar from play. OKane soon followed and after that Kevin McAnena. Castlederg notched up another two points while Harkin converted a free from the right wing to help secure the match for Glenelly. During the last 10 minutes Castledergs’ Kevin Coyle had to be stretchered of injured and consequently taken to hospital. Immedaitely after this Castlederg snatched a consolation goal while Harkin poped the last score over the sticks for Glenelly to leave the final score Glenelly 1-12 Castlederg 1-7 Glenelly Scorers Seamus Harkin 0-5 (0-3 Frees) Ronan OKane 0-4 (0-1 Frees) Fergal Linsday 1-0 Ciaran Kearney 0-1 Kevin Mc Anena
