The U14 girls completed a successful season on Monday night when they defeated Clann Na nGael in the Grade Two Championship Final at Strabane.

The Glenelly girls were coming into the game after reaching the league semi final. However St. Macartans beat them on that occasion.

While Clann Na nGael made it to the league final unbeaten. They also got the better of Glenelly in opening league match at Plumbridge which seen them go into Monday’s game as favourites.

Glenelly got off to a good start with points from Frances Gormley, Eilis Kearney and Caitlin O’Hagan while Mairead Conwell pointed to keep Clann Na nGael in touch.

An excellent penalty save from Glenelly goal keeper Rosaleen Bradley meant that Glenelly had a 5 point lead at half time on a score line of 9 points to 4.

On start of the second half Glenelly pointed again to increase their lead to six.

However the Clann na nGael girls were getting a firmer grip on the game and this was reflected on the score board once Mairead Conwell netted for them. However two points was the lowest the margin they could get as Kearney and Gormley pointed for Glenelly and Bradley pulled of some point blank saves. In final ten minutes Glenelly made sure of the victory with goals from centre half forward Frances Gormley and midfielder Orla Harkin. Glenelly captain Catherine Morris lifting the well deserved silverware for Glenelly.
