The minors began their season with a 2-14 to 0-8 win over Gortin in Plumbridge. Second half goals from Tony McGrinder and Ronan O'Kane sealed the win for Glenelly after a competitive first half.

Glenelly led 0-9 to 0-6 at half time, with first half scores from Kevin McAnena (0-4), Seamus Harkin (0-2), Ronan O'Kane, Stephen McBride and Conal McCullagh, while Stephen Daly (0-3), Niall McGinn, Mickey Tracey and David Kearney replied for Gortin. Gortin were dealt a blow with the loss of David Kearney after 10 mins with a knee injury.

The second hald was one which Glenelly dominated for long periods, and extended their lead through further scores from Ronan O'Kane (1-1), Stephen McBride (0-2) and Kevin McAnena, while Tony McGrinder (1-0) and Fergal Lindsay ensured the six Glenelly forwards ended up on the score sheet. Two Stephen Daly frees were the Gortin reply for the half.

It would be unfair to single out any player in what was an excellent team performance, well done to the lads.

The Minors travel to Newtownstewart next week for a 7.00pm start, all players to be in Plumbridge at 6.00pm
