The Senior team produced their best performance for several years on Sunday to defeat Stewartstown 0-9 to 0-6 in a difficult away fixture.
In an uneventful and low scoring first half, Glenelly held the initative for long periods and eventually led 0-3 to 0-1 at half-time after scores from Cathal Nicholas, Conal McCullagh and Kevin McAnena. The second half saw an early Glenelly push and they extended their lead to 0-9 to 0-3 with further points from Conal McCullagh, Michael Nicholas, Kevin McAnena and Cathal Nicholas. The last 10 minutes saw Glenelly sustain heavy pressure from the Stewartstown attack, led by Peter Armour who blazed a glorious goal chance wide. However, the Glenelly rear guard held firm to help the side to their 4th victory of the year.
Glenelly scorers: Conal McCullagh 0-4, Cathal Nicholas 0-2, Kevin McAnena 0-2 and Michael Nicholas 0-1 |
